CHILL PROOF KIT
BRAND IDENTITY | PACKAGING DESIGN
OVERVIEW
Chill Proof is a care package created and designed for the City of San Diego to be given to our homeless in the winter season. The kit contains functional products—organized with dividers— to ease the chill from the weather conditions the homeless face out on the streets during colder seasons in South California.
SOLUTION
The initial Chill Proo logo designed for the City of San Diego was revised; I changed the typeface from Helvetica to a condensed font called Roundlane and incorporated a water drop into the new logo. This new solution best conveys the reason why I created the Chill Proof kit in the first place; we are often blessed in San Diego with mild climate but there will always be colder days, rainy weather, and people who are in need in need of help and a little warmth. My hope is that this kit can offer that bit of warmth!
The packaging is designed with bold iconography patterns, typography, and a clean aesthetic. Items included: first aid kit, collapsible water bottle, a pair of gloves and socks, hand warmers, and a Mylar sleeping bag. The products were designed in a way using minimal detail and subtle shifts in shades to reflect the real-life products since I was unable to print on the products during the creation of this project due to COVID-19 complications.
I enjoyed designing the icons in a fun style that represent all the products. The branding is minimal and reflects the functionality of each product. This kit includes a balance of items that offer both reprieves from the cold and essentials. I intended to screen print the outside design and then utilize stickers for the logo on the products and the directions for the inside of the box.
